This is Glen, the owner of The Hood Archery Games.
It was announced recently that the Ontario government has passed the labour reform bill to increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour ($14 per hour beginning in Jan 2018). Personally, I am all in favor of increasing the minimum wage, there are too many people living in poverty or on the poverty line and I believe this will help these individuals gain a leg up. As a matter of fact, ever since we opened 2 years ago, my staff have consistently been offered higher than minimum wage to work at The Hood and I’ve already taken steps to increase the wage to $14 per hour, even before the law was passed. However, as a struggling small business, I can’t ignore the financial impact that such a step will have on my ability to stay in business. As such, starting January 1, 2018 you will notice a slight increase in private bookings. The cost for regular 1-hour private bookings (up to 16 players) will increase to $243.36 +tx, whereas regular 2-hour private bookings (up to 40 players) will increase to $486.73 +tx. In addition, our 1 hour birthday party packages (such as the Straight Shooter Package) will be increasing to $274.95+tx. All other pricing will remain the same for the time being.
I hope all of our customers can understand why it was necessary for me to take this measure.
